Elevate Breakdown of Cannabinoids
Share
The cannabis plant generates approximately 80 to 100 cannabinoids and around 300 non-cannabinoid chemicals. The primary cannabinoids are delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). There are 8 "major cannabinoids" which are those that can be found in abundance in cannabis plants. There are another 90+ "minor cannabinoids" found in trace amounts. Cannabidiol (CBD) and delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) are the two most common cannabinoids found in consumer products.
Delta-9 THC is the better known of the two and is the compound responsible for the euphoric psychoactive effects that cannabis is famous for. CBD does not have any psychoactive effect and this is the most important distinction between the two. In fact, CBD is thought to mitigate the high of THC because of its antipsychotic properties. As a result, CBD has been known to quell some of the THC-induced anxiety experienced by some users.
